Model United Nations (MUN) is an educational simulation of the United Nations’ committees. Each committee has its own topic, and student participants (delegates) simulate the functions of these committees to debate and resolve that topic.

TMUN is a premier Model United Nations conference where over 600 participants from across Canada and abroad gather for a three-day event in the last week of March to simulate UN committees and other global or governmental bodies, engaging in debate, diplomacy, and problem-solving on some of the world’s most pressing issues.

Anyone can attend TMUN as a delegate so long as they are enrolled in a secondary school and are of high school-age. Typically, this is between grades 7-12 and ages 12-19. There are no other requirements or conditions to attend the conference.

International and out-of-province delegates are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

By default, delegates will be exclusively roomed with delegates from their delegation. This means you will only be roomed with delegates from your school. Independent delegates, will be roomed with other independent delegates.

Rooming is automatically booked and guaranteed through TMUN when you complete the delegate registration form.

Special requests such as lower occupancy rooming and extra room nights can also be requested through TMUN.

TMUN welcomes participants from across the globe, and we have no restrictions on participation from outside of Ontario. The registration process for out-of-province or international delegates to attend the conference is the exact same as for local delegates. In the interest of accessibility, we place no restrictions on how students can attend the conference. Students may attend the conference either as independent delegates or with their school delegation regardless of whether their school has a Model UN program or club.

Independent delegates and delegates attending with their school delegation do not need to be accompanied by an adult chaperone to attend the conference. However, it is highly recommended that at least one adult chaperone accompany your school delegation. Chaperones can register for the conference by completing the chaperone registration form here.

Applications to join TMUN’s Secretariat and Committee Staff open each spring/summer. Secretariat applications usually open one month prior to Committee Staff applications. The TMUN overnight delegate registration fee provides accommodations for a two-night stay at the conference’s hotel venue, meeting space, conference supplies, and other miscellaneous amenities such as the delegate social.

Students attending TMUN may register as either overnight delegates or day delegates. Overnight delegates will stay for two nights at the Sheraton Hotel over the course of the three-day conference, while day delegates will arrive each morning and depart in the evening after the day’s events conclude.

Aside from hotel accommodations, both overnight and day delegates enjoy access to the same full conference programming, including all committees, ceremonies, and socials. The day delegate registration fee is adjusted to reflect the exclusion of hotel lodging. This option is also available to sponsor teachers and chaperones who prefer to return home with their delegation each evening.
