INTERPOL

International Criminal Police Organization

Founded in 1923 and presently headquartered in Lyon, France, the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) is an intergovernmental body of the United Nations whose primary purpose is to oversee global crime control and provide for international law enforcement cooperation. INTERPOL continues to expand its influence to this day, currently comprising of 194 member states with an annual budget of €136 million in 2020.

INTERPOL has mainly focused on three major areas of transnational crime since its establishment: terrorism, cybercrime, and organized crime. Its broader mandate, however, covers virtually every type of crime, including drug and human trafficking, political corruption, copyright infringement, environmental crimes, and white-collar crime. As such, the agency plays a critical role in the maintenance and promotion of security across the globe.

INTERPOL is a beginner committee that offers the traditional Model UN experience for all delegates alike.

Bernice Mai — Director
As a Junior at Collingwood School, Bernice is thrilled to serve as your Director of the International Police Organization at CAIMUN 2025. Since stepping into her first committee room at CAIMUN 2023, clueless about what ROP even meant, she has grown to not only master the rules but to savor every debate over critical global issues. Her fondest memories include stumbling into midnight crises with pajamas hidden beneath her blazer, and sending in the most outrageous adjectives for the Dais team’s amusement. Model UN has undoubtedly become a cornerstone of her high school experience. When not immersed in committee work, you can often find Bernice indulging in her typical $35 order at Big Way Kerrisdale, spending all her money at Brandy Melville or buying weird gadgets off of Taobao. She hopes that CAIMUN 2025 will be an enjoyable, fruitful and immersive experience for all. Best of luck to all delegates!

Fiona Chen — Assistant Director
As a Junior at York House School, Fiona is beyond excited to serve as your Assistant Director of INTERPOL for CAIMUN 2025. Ever since her first time nervously stepping into committee, unsure whether to raise her placard or run for the hills, Fiona has grown into someone who thrives in the fast-paced, caffeine-fueled world of Model UN. From chaotic midnight crises to heated debate over clause phrasing, she’s come to love every second of it. Outside the committee room, Fiona is a self-proclaimed iced matcha expert, an avid traveller, and a frequent NYT puzzle lover. Whether she’s editing a social media campaign or capturing moments through her camera lens, she’s always looking for ways to blend creativity with impact. Fun fact about Fiona’s MUN experience is that 50% of the conferences she’s been to, she’s somehow ended up in a wheelchair. Fiona hopes that CAIMUN 2025 will be as inspiring and unforgettable for you as Model UN has been for her. Wishing all delegates the best of luck, and get ready for a weekend full of diplomacy, debate, and many long lasting friendships.
