IPC

International Press Corps

First created by CAIMUN and unlike any other committee at the conference, the International Press Corps’s uniqueness entangles the bustling world of modern journalism with the enthralling diplomacy of politics and the United Nations. Delegates of the IPC will act as journalists, each representing their own news outlets from around the world, from the Associated Press’s impartial reporting to Xinhua News Agency’s Communist party propaganda. As IPC journalists, delegates are tasked with roaming the conference grounds and reporting each committee’s events in real time by creating journalistic media such a articles, interviews, video-content, and more.

All IPC-created media will be uploaded to the IPC website.

Any position paper formats accepted at CAIMUN as denoted in the position paper guide will be accepted in the International Press Corps. IPC delegates should write their position papers as usual and from the point of view of their news agencies. In contrast to regular committees where delegates will explain their country’s positions on a given topic in their position paper, IPC delegates should note their agency’s biases and writing styles in their position papers, among other items. Please see the IPC background guide for further information.

All committee-related inquiries must be submitted to the IPC committee staff at ipc@caimun.ca. Position papers must also be submitted to this email.

Fiona Xing — Director
A senior at Crofton House School, Fiona is extremely thrilled to serve as the Director of the International Press Corps at this year's iteration of CAIMUN 2025. Since beginning her Model United Nations journey two years ago as a confident yet deeply confused delegate, she has since learned the proper Rules of Procedure and to raise her placard only after the Dais team says, "now." Her love for these invigorating, debate-filled conferences grows exponentially with each one she attends. Outside of Model UN, Fiona can be found on highways at ungodly hours of the night, indulging in ice cream after every meal, and listening to anything from Gunna to Macseal. She hopes that the experiences gained from this conference will be incredibly memorable for all who attend.

Angela Li — Chair
Currently a Grade 12 student at Fraser Heights Secondary, Angela is thrilled to serve as the Chair for the International Press Corps at CAIMUN 2025. Since shedding a few tears at her first conference just over two years ago, Angela has come to fully embrace the chaos, excitement, charismatic speeches, and sleepless weekends that characterize Model UN. Between deciphering her messy research and skedaddling to order an iced chai from Starbucks, she is forever grateful for the experiences Model UN has given her. Outside of the committee room, Angela can be found hair-spraying her bangs back before a dance competition, completing a Duolingo lesson at 11:57 pm to keep up her 1400+ day streak, or envisioning a future cosplay. Angela wishes all delegates the best of luck in their preparations and is elated to meet everyone at the conference!
