JCC
Joint Crisis Committee
The Joint Crisis Committee (JCC) is a committee like none other; run with the crisis rules of procedure, the committee is divided into two separate blocs that are run independently yet operate on the same timeline and debate the same issue, simultaneously affecting each other's experience. The fast-paced and unpredictable nature of the Joint Crisis Committee ensures that all delegates will never know what to expect next. Being an advanced crisis committee, the JCC is a joint-crisis simulation that offers a unique experience designed for delegates with extensive experience and debate knowledge.
The JCC this year will feature the Second American Civil War.

Oscar Li — Crisis Overlord
Sixteen, junior, and among the Last of the Romans, Oscar Li is content to serve as Crisis Overlord of the Joint Crisis Committees at CAIMUN 2025. While he initially had to be physically dragged into St. George’s School’s Model UN Club by friends, Oscar grew to appreciate how this invaluable activity truly models after the United Nations in every aspect — deepening his critical thinking, perception skills, and allowing him to meet people of every character and disposition like no other activity. Outside of Model UN, one may find Oscar writing nerdy satire, photographing sceneries in the wilderness, gently pushing people to the ground in rugby, and most importantly, sincerely doing his best to be a fine young man. If you see Oscar at CAIMUN or elsewhere, don’t be shy to say hi!
Marek Cai — Bloc Director (Bloc A)
Entering his third year of high school at St. George's, Marek has the distinct honour as a bloc director of JCC at CAIMUN. Since navigating his Model UN conference in Grade 9, Marek has been immersed in the endless debates, loud banging of tables, and the chaos of the committee room. When not planning for the next conference, Marek can be found catching up with the Premier League, listening to unhealthy amounts of Mandopop, blasting eardrums out at school, and failing to fall asleep at 2:00 am. Feel free to talk to him about any topic, as he (probably) will have some knowledge or opinion that he has about it. Marek looks forward to crafting an eventful weekend of debate for all delegates!
Jessica Yin — Bloc Director (Bloc B)
A senior at West Point Grey Academy, Jessica is delighted to serve as the Director of the Joint Crisis Committee — Bloc B at CAIMUN 2025. From discussions of critical real-world issues in General Assemblies to shouting matches after a pivotal crisis update, Jessica has grown to love and cherish the dynamic, fast-paced atmosphere of Model UN conferences as well as the innovative mindset needed to create the perfect resolution. For Jessica, the evenings after committee sessions are often spent socializing with anyone lingering in the halls, and she treasures the unforgettable memories she has made through MUN. Outside conferences, she can be found dozing off to music, rewatching her favourite variety shows, and planning spontaneous outings with her friends. She hopes that CAIMUN will be an enjoyable, immersive, and memorable experience for everyone and wishes delegates the best of luck.
Kevin Xu — Chair (Bloc A)
A senior at Richmond Christian School, Kevin is ecstatic to serve as the Chair at the Joint Crisis Committee for CAIMUN 2025. Since stuttering in his first speech in Grade 9, MUN has allowed him to develop passion in debate and political discussions, and most importantly, to build some lifelong friendships. Outside the conference rooms, Kevin can be caught getting bubble tea after two hours of intense CHUNITHM playing, waking up reluctantly for badminton practices, or being addicted to plushies and cats. Kevin looks forward to meeting every delegate and making this conference weekend an unforgettable memory.
Jerry Chen — Chair (Bloc B)
A junior attending St. George’s School, Jerry is honoured to serve as the chair of the Joint Crisis Committee at CAIMUN 2025. Since first embarking on his MUN journey three years ago at a conference where he did not give a single speech, Jerry has moved halfway across the world and spoken at least once in a committee session. Regardless, he has always been dedicated to the relentless diplomacy, vibrant debate, and increasingly questionable sleep schedule accompanying this activity. When not desperately scribbling illegible notes during a conference, Jerry can be found sabotaging his teammates in various quiz competitions, watching his favourite players endlessly underperform in whatever competition happens to be on at the moment, and struggling to read and write. He hopes that all delegates will enjoy this weekend of declamation, gesticulation, and subversion.
Olina Liu — Assistant Director (Bloc A)
Currently a sophomore at Steveston London Secondary School, Olina is thrilled to serve as Assistant Director of Bloc A of the Joint Crisis Committee at CAIMUN 2025 this year! Ever since her first Model UN conference as a humbling eighth-grader, Olina found her love for diplomacy, developed her passion for public speaking, and created many long-lasting friendships along the way. Outside of the conference room, Olina can be spotted waiting in the long line for Starbucks, munching on food with her friends in full Western Business Attire, or delightedly sipping away on her boba. Her love for MUN has only grown–from walking up the podium for the first time to loudly banging on the table, it has truly been embedded in her memories. Olina is looking forward to a fruitful debate and an unforgettable experience for everyone!
Brian Deng — Assistant Director (Bloc B)
As a Grade 10 student at St. George's School, Brian is excited to be serving as the Assistant Director of Bloc B of the JCC at CAIMUN 2025. After years in debate, he made the bold switch to MUN, only to be immediately confused by this strange new idea of collaboration. Since then, he's learned that diplomacy is less about winning arguments and more about nodding thoughtfully and pretending you know what's going on. Outside of committee, he can usually be found singing way-too-mainstream radio hits, overanalyzing basketball stats, and writing poetry. Brian has grown to love the chaos and comedy (and caffeine) that MUN brings, and is looking forward to the kind of memories you can only make in a room full of teenagers pretending to be diplomats.
Adrian Pun — Crisis Staff
As a Grade 10 student at St. George’s School, Adrian is honoured to serve as a Crisis Staff member for the Joint Crisis Committee at CAIMUN 2025. Ever since his first speech three years ago, Adrian has been captivated by the fast-paced and comical nature of MUN. Whether it be the never-ending threats of nuclear warfare or the constant desire to stay up all night, Model UN has created some of Adrian’s finest memories and friendships. When he’s not drafting speeches, Adrian can be found procrastinating over schoolwork, drinking an unhealthy amount of coffee, or playing board games with his family and friends. Adrian can’t wait to see all of the delegates — both experienced and new — and hopes for a laughter-filled weekend of fruitful debate.
