UNDP
United Nations Development Programme
Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1965 through the merging of two previous United Nations agencies (the Expanded Programme of Technical Assistance (EPTA) and Special Fund), the mission of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is to assist member states in the growth of human development and the alleviation of poverty. The UNDP has been pushing forward wide-ranging initiatives from democratic governance to the environment and energy through its cooperation with local governments and international organizations.
Known as one of the most accomplished agencies in the United Nations, the UNDP has contributed to promoting the Sustainable Development Goals through its various programs. These programs range from promoting democratic governance by supporting elections and voter registration to advising governments in reforming discriminatory legislation to providing HIV/AIDS testing to millions of people worldwide.
The UNDP is an intermediate committee that offers an experience for all delegates with interest.

Eva Wang— Director
Eva Wang is ecstatic to have the opportunity to serve as the director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Currently a Grade 11 student attending West Point Grey Academy, she has grown to appreciate the engaging collaboration and diplomatic debates of the Model UN world. In her spare time, she can often be found unsuccessfully trying to catch up on sleep, binge-watching comfort TV shows, and deficiently playing basketball with her friends. Eva looks forward to witnessing compelling discussions and is excited to see the solutions delegates find. She hopes that all delegates will enjoy their time at CAIMUN 2024 and that this experience will reveal to them the many things MUN has to offer.
Merhan Mansour — Chair
As a Grade 11 student at Collingwood School, Merhan is very excited to chair the CAIMUN 2024 United Nations Development Programme. Since joining the Model United Nations club in Grade 8, Merhan has found a deep passion for Model UN and the understanding of the world that comes with it. From public speaking to trying new things, Model UN has helped shape many new experiences, both inside and outside the club. Outside of Model United Nations, Merhan can be found reading a good fiction book, studying for different biology courses, and hanging out with friends. Merhan is excited for CAIMUN 2024 and hopes to bring a lot of positive energy and memories to the conference!
Heidi Liu — Assistant Director
Currently a senior at St. Margaret’s School, Heidi is ecstatic to serve as the Assistant Director of the United Nations Development Programme at CAIMUN 2024. Since attending her very first online conference 3 years ago where she failed to unmute her mic, her passion for MUN has thoroughly blossomed. Heidi has cultivated an appreciation for not only the fast-paced discourse, diverse array of topics, and competitive yet collaborative nature of MUN, but also the invaluable connections she has formed through it. Outside of MUN, Heidi can be found playing checkers, making buldak ramen, giving all her money to Uber Eats, writing, and gaslighting her friends. Heidi is looking forward to meeting all the delegates for a weekend full of spirited debate, marking the end of her high school MUN career.
